Why ABK ?

portraits_history

ABK is the successful merge of the experience of 3 well-known and talented companies which have had a very strong influence on the paper and board industry during the second half of the XX th century: ALLIBE, BELOIT and KÜSTERS.

Founded in 1952 by Mr. Aimé ALLIBE to promote and manufacture the patented pulping equipment under the name of ATELIERS ALLIBE S.A., the company has gradually extended its services and gained in expertise in the design and the manufacturing of complete paper machine.

In the early 80’s, the company has developed coaters, hard and soft calenders and crown-controlled rolls, always at the look for the latest stage of the art products to serve its customers.

An attractive potential

In 1990, the company was taken-over by the Canadian stock preparation supplier GL&V; then in 1994 by KÜSTERS MASCHINENFABRIK, Krefeld, Germany, and in 1998 by BELOIT CORP. After BELOIT bankruptcy, the company was acquired by a group of investors related to the paper industry, namely the ALLIBE family (France), HEINTZ CONSULTING (Germany) and the METEKSAN GROUP (Ankara, Turkey), owner of paper mills and paper machine shops. By the end of 2005, the remaining shareholders took over the participation of METEKSAN.

2000 to make a fresh start

In 2000, a new board of directors, highly motivated and strongly believing in the potential of the company, led to the creation of the company ABK MACHINERY
