Automatic Spool Loading
- Increases safety with clamps, dry end operation efficiencies, and crane availability by loading spools into a system specifically designed to insert them into the reel.
Reel Spool
- Designed to wind quality rolls and minimize defects. Polyurethane or rubber covers improve winding starts, reduce wear on the reel drum, and reduce noise levels.
Air-Assisted Gooseneck
- Lifts the center of the sheet and guides it neatly around the empty spool to increase efficiency and minimize waste.
Hydra Turn-up System
- Positively cuts the sheet with high pressure waterjet nozzles.
Turn-up
- For rolls change by means of tape.
Low-Friction Primary Arms
- Provides better nip pressure control by using bearings in the hooks.
Primary Arm Centerwind Assist Drives
- Acts as a spool starter to ensure exact speed match at turn-up. Allows tight starts and provides a solid foundation to build the rest of the roll.
Primary Arm Nip Relieving
- Improves cross-machine nip profiles, threading and turn-up efficiencies. Minimizes winding defects while the spool is in the primary arms by reducing and controlling the nip pressure.
Controlled Transfer
- Eliminates the double loading spike and associated defects when the spool is transferred from the primary to the secondary arms.
Drum Grooving and Coating
- Improves runnability with patterns and traction coatings. Designed to fit each application.
Secondary Arm Centerwind Assist Drives
- Controls the nip pressure as a function of log diameter to minimize wound roll defects. Eliminates slippage with the drum, and allows winding larger* and softer logs to improve dry-end cycle times and minimize defects.
Roll Turning Drive
- Rotates the parent rolls for better runnability in unwind stands and performs as a tail preparation drive to improve winder efficiency.
Weigh Station
- Determines the amount of paper wound onto each roll.
Extended Rails
- Advance full rolls to the next operation without the use of a crane.
Gates
- Provide access point for equipment and personnel.
Trim Slitters
- Improve sheet edges, machine runnability, and reduce web breaks. Shear type or waterjet slitters are available.
Tension Control
- Winds rolls at low tension levels for fewer web breaks and better runnability at subsequent operations. The roll shells are lightweight composite materials or steel.
Threading Systems
- Guide the tail accurately and reliably to the reel.

Dust Removal Systems
- Remove dust from the sheet and machine area using web cleaners, vacuum foils, and area hoods to improve operator health and safety, as well as product quality and cleanliness.
Threading Systems
- Decrease threading time by transporting the tail reliably to the reel with no moving parts. Enhancements to the threader, drum and vacuum sheave increase threading efficiency.
Foils
- Increase dry-end efficiencies and machine speeds by stabilizing the sheet to reduce sheet breaks. Foils can pivot to provide clearance.
Slitters
- Cut the web into multiple sections across the width. Saw type or waterjet systems are available to provide cross-machine cuts on any grade.
Air Deflector and Brush
- Allows the sheet to lay flat and prevents wrinking as it passes around the drum by removing air and debris.
Turn-Up Systems
- Ensure high turn-up efficiencies. Several types of full width turn-up systems are available for all grades. Methods include waterjet systems, vacuum spools, adhesive systems, and tape systems - all tailored to your application.
Core Type Spools
- Allow slitting at the reel to send rolls directly to converting. Pneumatic or mechanical core clamps provide simple methods for locking the cores.
Centerwind Assist Drives
- Allow operation at low nip pressures and enable gap winding on bulk sensitive grades.
Transfer Arms
- Move rotating spools positively from the secondary arms to the brake station.
Lift Tables
- Move the full rolls from the reel stop station to the shaft pulling station.
Shaft Pullers
Remove the spools from the wound rolls and automatically place empty cores onto the spool. Systems are available to return the spools to an automatic loading system at the reel.
