DEFLAKING

DESCRIPTION AND PRINCIPLE
| The Pulper, first on the stock preparation line, is only desintegrating pulp: It breaks down pulp sheets into fibers and tiny bundles. But, it does not eliminate flakes from waste papers and machine brakes, virgin pulp small knots.
This is the duty of the deflaker. The stock is therefore better prepared for the refiners and the rest of the stock preparation system, and at relatively low energy consumption. The deflakers must, through brief intense shearing action (in line operation without recycling) ensure instantaneous and as complete as possible desintegration of the flakes. This is achieved by successive pres-sure pulses on the stock during its passage between stationary and rotating vanes (conical and concentric). |

MAIN ADVANTAGES
or
The power consumption is linked to the desired deflaking result. Therefore, a small freeness drop can be readily obtained by the deflaker, thus easing the downstream refiners work. |
